Ramya Krishnan accepts poor performance in initial projects
In a conversation with Galatta, Ramya talked about her decision to transition from the Tamil film industry to the Telugu film industry. The actress said that she didn't think she was a strong performer at the time. She also admitted that it took her a while after debut to find success in her movies, which inspired her to change her audience.
Ramya said, “I did not become successful in my acting career for a long time after my debut. My films in Tamil were not doing well initially, so went to Telugu. Even though I had a hit with Muthal Vasantham it did not benefit my career. I wasn't a good performer back then. My mother saw a movie of mine later on and asked how did I survive for so long."

After a string of dud films in both Tamil and Telugu, she finally found success with 1989's Sutradharulu by K. Viswanath. The movie later won the National Film Award for Best Telugu Feature Film. Following this, she appeared in other films and quickly rose to prominence in Tollywood alongside other well-known South Indian actresses.

Currently, Ramya Krishnan stars in Jailer which revolves around a gangster who forms a plan to escape the guarded prison with his cellmates. After hatching a plan, the entire gang attempts to flee. However, they cross paths with a strict jailer who confronts them and hampers their plan. The twist would be how the jailer manages to keep up with the gang's plans inside the prison.
