Anushka Sharma is one of the WAGs (Wives and girlfriends of sportspersons) who often takes the stand to support her husband Virat Kohli and team India during crucial matches. However, this seems difficult going forward, given the new diktats by BCCI. The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has tightened the reins following the Men's Indian Cricket Team's unsatisfactory performance at the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In a 10-point diktat, the cricketing board proposed new rules to be followers by the cricketer. One of the rules states that families are not allowed on tours with the players. The diktat by the BCCI stated that families are not allowed on tours with the players. In case a tour is more than 45 days, then the families can visit the player once during the series. Virat Kohli had voiced his dissent on this particular rule. Now, Anushka Sharma, too seems to have reacted to it.

Anushka Sharma's cryptic note goes viral

On March 17, Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram stories to pen a note about how a person assumes multiple identities during their daily life. While the actress did not mention BCCI or her husband or even cricket, social media users assume that it is her subtle reply to the cricketing board. She wrote, “A different version of you exists in the minds of everyone who knows you. The person you think of as ‘yourself’ only exists for you, and even you don’t really know who that is. Every person you meet, have a relationship with, or make eye contact on the street with, creates a version of ‘you’ in their heads."

The note further read, “You’re not the same person to your mom, your dad, your siblings than you are to your co-workers, your neighbours or your friends. There are a thousand different versions of yourself out there, in people’s minds. A ‘you’ exists in each version and yet your ‘you’, ‘yourself’ isn’t really a ‘someone’ at all." Her note quickly began doing rounds on social media.

Speaking at the RCB Innovational Lab Indian Sports Summit, Virat Kohli shared, “It's very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to just come back to your family every time you have something which is intense, which happens on the outside." He added, “If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? You'll be like, yes. I don't want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life." He has batted for families to be allowed on tours. Previously, social media users slammed BCCI for the rule and for indirectly implying that cricketers' wives or families are responsible for their poor performance.
