What is the real story of Kesari 2?

As per the Bloomsbury publications, following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919, the sole Indian member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, Chettur Sankaran Nair resigned in protest. His actions led to the removal of press censorship and the end of martial law in Punjab .

Sankaran Nair wrote about the ignorance and arrogance of Michael O’Dwyer, along with O’Dwyer’s support for Dyer’s actions, in his book Gandhi and Anarchy.

Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and a key figure behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, filed a defamation suit against Sankaran Nair for exposing the atrocities committed by the British in Punjab. Despite the odds, Sankaran Nair stood firm, presenting evidence from the Hunter Commission and testimonies from Indian witnesses. The verdict became a pivotal moment to watch. The case was heard at the Court of the King’s Bench in London, the Empire’s highest court.

The trial was widely covered and one of the longest in history that shocked the world. It brought global attention to the brutalities of British rule in India. Through detailed court reports and an insightful portrayal of a principled nationalist, The Case That Shook the Empire unveils the untold story of this landmark trial, which became a defining moment in India’s fight for independence. It will be interesting to see if Akshay Kumar will do justice to the greatness and sacrifices he made.
