Dhoom has celebrated 20 years of release on August 27. The film hit the big screens 2004 and remains one of the most talked about action film to date. The film is remembered for many reasons including its superbikes, humour, heist sequences but most for its great action. It is popularly believed that the Sanjay Gandhvi directorial brought a new styles of action to the industry and the credit for it goes to action director Allan Amin. As the film turns 20 years old, Allan Amin spoke about difference in shooting action scenes in old time and recent days.

Allan Amin calls today’s action scenes ‘fake’

In a recent interview, Dhoom's action director shared details about the brief he received for the Abhishek Bachchan starrer. Allan Amin explained that the director, Sanjay Gadhavi, wanted ‘major action sequences.’ The action director also shared his profound love for bikes, making it one of the reasons to include it in the film. He told Bollywood Hungama, “I told him (the director) that the way I am looking at it, it should be done with bikes. This is because I am a biker. Hence, for me, doing action with bikes was very easy and also we wanted to come up with sequences not been shot before. It was also all real. Hence, even today, the action in Dhoom looks so good.”

He then noted that many films today rely heavily on special effects and green screens, which can appear quite artificial. Allan Amin quoted, “the films nowadays use too much of special effects and blue screen. It looks very fake.”

He then revealed that John Abraham's entry scene was also shot without the help of special effects where ‘he throws a helmet at a police jeep's tyre, causing the vehicle to overturn.’ Although the writer was unsure of the realism, it was undeniably entertaining.

Allan Amin noted that, it was a little exaggerated but it is possible. He added, "The helmet is very strong. So, if it hits the right spot, it can turn over the vehicle.” He also revealed that he enlisted an Australian expert in boat jumps, who flew in to build a ramp and execute the boat jump in front of the truck in Goa as needed.
