Aamir Khan’s debut production film Lagaan went on to create history. Not only did the movie garnered an Oscar nomination but also recited an inspiring tale which received tremendous love from the audiences. Made on a budget of ₹25 crore, Lagaan has emerged to become one of the iconic movies of the Hindi cinema. But did you know Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker had major fights during the filming?
In an interview with Just Too Filmy, Aamir Khan recalled asking director Ashutosh Gowariker during the shoot, “Where was he( Aamir’s character-Bhuvan) getting water to shave?. I had big fights with Ashutosh. I told him that the entire premise of the movie is that there is no water. How is it possible that he’s shaving every day? His fellow villagers would have beaten him up.”
Aamir further added, ‘Finally I gave I, but I was very upset. I found a way around it. I would shave at night and show up to set with a shadow. I’d get very annoyed with myself. But perhaps this was all in my mind, I don’t know if the audience even noticed it”.
For the unversed, Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, Lagaan was set in the backdrop of the pre-independence era. Apart from Aamir Khan, the film stars Gracy Singh, Rachel Shelley, Paul Blackthorne, Suhasini Kharbanda, Rajendra Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Pradeep Rawat and Akhilendra Mishra among others.
Aamir Khan is likely to join the pan-India bandwagon with his upcoming project. He has reportedly signed on to feature Vikram and Kaithi fame Lokesh Kanagaraj's untitled next. The Bollywood superstar will be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par next and this will also mark Aamir's return to the silver screen after 2022's Laal Singh Chaddha.
Recently, the actor had co-produced Laapataa Ladies with its director and his former wife Kiran Rao. His next production is Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta.
