The Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson released in Indian cinemas on January 1, 2025. For those who missed it watching on big screens, Marvel fans will soon get to view it on OTT platform at the comfort of their homes.
Sony-Marvel movie Kraven the Hunter is all set to premiere in India on Netflix on March 31 as per the announcement on OTT platform. However, it is unclear in how many languages will it be available.
For the unversed, Kraven the Hunter is typically portrayed as a renowned big-game hunter whose goal in life is to beat Spider-Man to prove himself as the world's greatest hunter. The character is widely regarded as one of Spider-Man's most formidable enemies, and has gained considerable attention from storylines such as 1987's Kraven's Last Hunt, 2010's Grim Hunt, 2015–2019's The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl's Friend Kraven, and 2019's Hunted.
Helmed by JC Chandor, the action film also features Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christropher Abbott, Russell Crowe and Tom Reed among others. Produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel Entertainment, it is the sixth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe.
Following two years of delays, Kraven the Hunter was released by Columbia Pictures in the United States on December 13, 2024. The film was a box-office bomb, grossing $62 million worldwide on a budget of $110–130 million. The film was criticised for its screenplay and visual effects, despite stellar performances by the cast. According to a report in Sacnilk, Kraven the Hunter performed well on its first 8 days at the box office and earned an estimated ₹ 1.17 Cr India net.
Kraven's complex relationship with his ruthless father starts him down a path of vengeance, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
