Not Deepika Padukone But Priyanka Chopra Was The First Choice For Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram-Leela

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela is one of the most loved films. But did you know Priyanka Chopra who featured for a dance number in the film, was suppose to play the lead. Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra revealed interesting details about the film.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, Madhu Chopra said, “I don’t remember much from that time. I just know that she went to his office next door when I was with my patients in my clinic. When she came back, she said that I am only doing a song in Ram Leela. I asked her, ‘What happened?’ She said, ‘I think that’s better. She doesn’t keep that revenge attitude. She did the film because Sanjay asked her to. Omung (director, Kumar) was the director, and she stayed with Mary Kom for a while to see everything."

Madhu Chopra further added, “Kashibai was very hard because there were tight shots, and it was all on the face. The expressions were everything… Sanjay is not an easy director, and to keep him pleased in the sense that he is satisfied with the performance… that was the target. That was something she was very focused on. There were no distractions; she would not even talk inside her van during that time”.

For the unversed,  Priyanka Chopra making a special appearance in the song "Ram Chahe Leela" in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. Apart from Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, the film stars Supriya Pathak, Richa Chadda, Sharad Kelkar, Gulshan Devaiah and Barkha Bisht Sengupta among others. Ram-Leela received eight nominations at the Filmfare Awards and bagged three. At the International Indian Film Academy Awards, it received nine nomination and won two.

Priyanka Chopra’s upcoming projects

There are speculations that Priyanka Chopra has been locked in as the female lead in SS Rajamouli’s directorial jungle adventure film SSMB29. Following in the footsteps of other Bollywood actresses, Peewee will appear in the Telugu movie. Reports of Priyanka Chopra being a part of the film were further strengthened by after her recent arrival at the Hyderabad airport.

Priyanka Chopra has Hollywood projects including Citadel Season 2, Heads of State and The Bluff. In the second season of Citadel, she will be reprising her role of Nadia Sinh and will be paired opposite Richard Madden. In the Heads of State, the film will star Idris Elba, John Cena, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root and Carla Gugino among others.
