Animal BO: Ranbir Kapoor's film surpasses Pathaan to become the second-highest grosser of 2023

Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has become the second-higest grossing Hindi film of 2023 amassing a staggering total of ₹547.02 at the domestic box office.

Animal hit the big screens on December 1 and scripted history by becoming the fastest Hindi film to mint over ₹500 crore at the domestic box office. Despite garnering criticism for being ‘misogynistic’ and ‘sexist’, the film has had a dream run at the ticketing counter. As per a report in Sacnilk, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has become the second-highest-grossing film of 2023, surpassing Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan. 

Animal races past Pathaan 

Animal hit the big screens alongside Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur but continued to dominate the ticketing counter. Released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. As per Sacnilk, at the conclusion of 2023, the Ranbir Kapoor-Rashmika Madanna starrer had amassed a total of ₹544.93 crore at the domestic box office, in all languages combined.

The Sandeep Reddy Vanga raced past Pathaan which minted a total of ₹543 crore in India. Even in the new year, Animal minted ₹1.45 crore on Monday followed by ₹0.64 crore on Tuesday. The film’s total stands at a staggering ₹547.02 crore at the domestic box office, as per Sacnilk.

Animal to become the fifth Hindi film to join ₹500 crore club in Hindi 

The film has another feather in its cap. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer will soon breach the ₹500 crore mark in the Hindi version alone. At the end of its 33-day-long theatrical run, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has minted ₹496 crore, as per Sacnilk. In the coming days, the film is set to cross the ₹500 crore club and become the fifth film after Jawan, Pathaan and Gadar 2.

In terms of worldwide collection, Animal also boasts a colossal collection. The film has raked in over ₹890 crore in overseas collection. With this, it has become the third highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year, after Jawan and Pathaan. As per reports, Animal makers are reportedly planning a huge success bash to celebrate the film’s milestones at the box office. The said success party will be reportedly held on January 6 in Mumbai at the Jio World Convention Centre.
