Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming projects; Gangubai to Baiju Bawra

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is undoubtedly one of the legendary directors of Bollywood. He has directed films of epic proportions like Black starring Rani Mukherjee alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Devdas starring Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwariya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit. Bhansali is well-known for his symmetrical shots and visualization. His last three movies titled Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat starred Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in them. There are a lot of rumours surrounding Bhansali's future projects.

1) Gangubai Kathiawadi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is going to film Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt after the film Inshallah starring Salman Khan was shelved. According to reports, the shooting for the film was to go on floor from November 4, at Mumbai's Film City, Mehboob Studios, but has now been relocated to Goregaon film city. 

The film Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on a real-life story of Gangubai who ran a sex racket in the Hira Mandi red light area. She operated in Mumbai during the 1960's. There were rumours that Kartik Aaryan was roped to star opposite Alia in the film but turned out to be false. According to the latest rumours, Hritik Roshan has been roped for the film alongside Alia.

2) Baiju Bawra

Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently announced his magnum opus 'Baiju Bawra' which is a revenge story of the maverick maestro. The filmmaker announced that he will start working on the film after completing 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' featuring Alia Bhatt in the lead.
 The musical saga will light up the screens on Diwali 2021. SLB's official Twitter handle made the announcement on the auspicious day of Diwali.

Now, according to some reports, Ajay Devgn might play the lead in the film. If that happens, then Ajay and SLB will be coming together for a film after 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam' (1999).
