Orhan Awatramani aka Orry and seven others have been booked by the Jammu and Kashmir Police for consuming alcohol at a hotel in Katra, the base camp of the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. An FIR (No. 72/25) has been lodged at Katra Police Station against Orhan Awatramani (Orry), Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Ritick Singh, Rashi Dutta, Rakshita Bhogal, Shagun Kohli, and Anastasila Arzamaskina for violating the District Magistrate’s (DM) order and hurting religious sentiments. They have been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS). This comes after drinking photos and videos of him with his 7 friends at the Mata Vaishno Devi base went viral.
Reasi Police said that they were found consuming alcohol inside their hotel premises despite strict prohibitions on alcohol and non-vegetarian food in the Cottage Suite area of Katra. Upon receiving a complaint, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh (JKPS) directed strict action against the offenders, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for any act that disturbs the sanctity of religious places.
"A special team, under the supervision of SP Katra, DySP Katra, and SHO Katra, was formed to investigate the matter. Notices will be sent to all accused individuals, including ORRY, instructing them to join the probe. SSP Reasi has reiterated that anyone violating the law, especially by indulging in activities like alcohol or drug consumption at religious sites, will be dealt with strictly," Reasi Police said.
