Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor in a recent interview opened up about finding the courage to speak up for herself after years of silence. Reflecting on her teenage years, she revealed that when morphed photos of her circulated online, she hesitated to address the issue.

Janhvi Kapoor regrets not speaking up as a child

Janhvi admitted that she now recognizes the wrongness of not speaking out against such incidents. She lauded fellow actor Rashmika Mandanna for calling out a viral deepfake of herself. Kapoor further in this interview with Film Companion acknowledged the challenges of voicing opinions coming from her background. Despite her own experiences, Janhvi has often felt apologetic about her privileged position and accepted that others face more significant hardships.

Expressing her reluctance to assert herself, Janhvi said, “I invalidated a lot of my feelings, and that resulted in me not really having a voice to express what I want, what I don’t want. Because I didn’t want to seem imposing. I didn’t even know that I had the right to speak about deepfakes or altered images. I didn’t know I could say anything.”

When Janhvi Kapoor spotted her morphed pictures at the age of 15

Recalling incidents from her past, Janhvi recalled encountering her morphed images at the age of 15 but refrained from complaining, thinking it was part of being in the public eye. She said, “I thought I can’t complain, because it’ll seem like I want attention.”

Janhvi revealed learning to embrace her origins and accept the opportunities she has been given while acknowledging the responsibility of being Sridevi’s daughter.

Currently working on her debut Telugu movie, Devara and preparing for the sports drama Mr and Mrs Mahi, Janhvi Kapoor has just begun exploring herself in showbiz. The actress was last seen in Bawaal and also made a brief appearance in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
