Union Home Minister Amit Shah recent visit to the Northeast, gifted a guitar to 7 year-old Mizoram prodigy Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte after her rendition of Vande Mataram in Aizawl. The video of her perfoermance went viral within no time.
What do we know about Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte?
Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte is a child singer and prodigy from Mizoram. She rose to national fame after her rendition of AR Rahman’s song Mama Tujhey Salaam went viral within no time. She is the daughter of Lalrinenga Hnamte, a taxi driver, and R. Lalawmpui. She has two more siblings. Her interest in music is only because of her mother, a retired soprano of the local choir. However, as a native of Mizoram, Esther does not speak other language. The singing sensation memorises Hindi and English songs by repeated singing with her friends. Her first song Maa Tujhe Salaam was recorded during the COVID-19 restrictions.

Esther Hnamte has received recognition including special appreciation award from the Governor of Mizoram and the Young Achievers Award from Dalmia Cement Bharat Limited in 2021. She is even the youngest member of Mizo Zaimi Inzawmkhawm, which presents her its 2021 Non-native Award for Jana Gana Mana, a music video made with Indian Army.

Mizoram’s Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte lauded for her performance
Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to his X handle and wrote, “Love for Bharat unites us all. Deeply moved to listen to Mizoram's wonder kid Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte, singing Vande Mataram in Aizawl today. The seven-year-old's love for Bharat Mata poured out into her song, making listening to her a mesmerizing experience. Gifted her a guitar and blessed her for a brilliant future ahead.

Netizens loved her rendition and gushed about her in the comment section. One user wrote, “Simply awesome. God bless this daughter of Bharat”. Another user wrote, “Very beautiful voice and inspiring”. “"Vande Mataram" Great singing by a little girl Esther Lalduhami Hnamte. Bharat Mata is pleased n the little one will shine with fame n prosperity for long. Jai Hind”, wrote the third user.
Amit Shah has been on a three-day visit to Assam since March 14. He made a special stop in Mizoram on March 15. During his visit, he attended the land transfer ceremony for the Assam Rifles land being handed over to the Mizoram government.
