As per sources, Mumbai police have arrested Ashish Butiram Sayal, a former office assistant, for stealing lakhs from Bulleya singer Pritam Chakraborty's studio.

Pritam Chakraborty robbery case update: Mumbai’s Malad police have arrested a man accused of stealing ₹40 lakh from Bollywood composer Pritam Chakraborty’s music studio. The suspect has been identified as Ashish Butiram Sayal, 32, who worked as an office assistant at the studio and was apprehended in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The theft was reported on February 4 at Gerua Singer’s office, leading to an investigation by the Malad police. The accused finally got arrested on February 22, and 95% of the stolen cash was also recovered from the total amount of ₹40 lakh.
After registering the case, Malad police investigated 150 to 200 CCTV cameras from areas like Kandivali, Malad, Charkop, Versova, Marve Road, Malwani, and Samta Nagar to identify him, stated the Mumbai police.
Footage revealed Sayal leaving the studio and boarding a rickshaw to Kandivali. He walked for hours before reaching Charkop, then took another rickshaw to Marve Road. After walking further, he arrived in Malwani, stayed briefly, and then took another rickshaw to Samta Nagar. He wandered there before taking a rickshaw to Versova. Over about eight hours, Sayal alternated between walking and rickshaw rides before leaving the city.

Using technical surveillance, police tracked him to Samba. A team located and arrested him in the Railway Road area. They recovered approximately ₹34 lakh in cash, along with an iPhone and a MacBook worth ₹2.87 lakh. The electronic devices purchased with the stolen money were seized.

How did Pritam Chakraborty get robbed?
According to the FIR, the theft took place at Pritam's studio Unimus Record Private Limited located in the Rustomjee Ozone building on the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, Goregaon West, at 2 PM on Feb 4. A person delivered a bag containing ₹40 lakh on behalf of producer Madhu Mantena.
Pritam's manager, Vinit Chheda, placed the bag in a drawer in front of staff members Ashish Sayal, Ahmad Khan, and Kamal Disha. After securing the bag, he went to Pritam's residence in the same building to get some documents signed. At around 10:30 PM, he noticed the bag was missing from the drawer. When he questioned a staff member, he was informed that Ashish had taken the bag, claiming he would deliver it to Pritam. The case is currently under investigation.
