Challenges faced by Salaar

Initially planned in 2021, Salaar suffered delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing the rigorous shooting schedule into 2022 which eventually concluded in January 2023. Kiragandur emphasised the ambition to cater to a diverse audience across five languages which needed detailed post-production work, including dubbing and CGI, leading to a December release.

Reflecting on the monumental success of the KGF franchise, Kiragandur expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response and detailed the transformative impact it had on their approach to filmmaking. He said, “We are more responsible now, and hence, we want to make films that are crowd-pleasing. Hence, there is a delay."

Discussing Hombale Films' multi-part releases, Kiragandur revealed that the decision to make sequels wasn't initially planned for KGF but emerged during filming. Talking about Kantara, he said, “We were doubtful if people from other regions would watch a film based on the traditions of Karnataka. Kantara can be made in two to three parts because the story demands. The same is the case with Salaar."

When asked about his project greenlight criteria, Kiragandur emphasised content and directorial prowess over budget considerations. He underscored the importance of relevant concepts and trusted directors in his decision-making process. He said, “For me, content and director matters the most."

Addressing the absence of a success event, Kiragandur cited time constraints but reassured of a lavish success celebration soon.
