The city of Chennai is currently contending with the devastating effects of the cyclone Michaung. As the city painstakingly makes its way through this natural calamity, several well-known faces have spoken up in favour of the victims afflicted by this devastation. The latest in this regard, has been Leo actor Thalapathy Vijay.

Thalapathy Vijay speaks out for cyclone Michaung victims in Chennai


Thalapathy Vijay took to his Instagram handle to voice his support for the victims of cyclone Michaung, in Chennai. The actor cited reports of women, children and the elderly suffering in the state due to lack of drinking water, food as well as proper infrastructure. He called upon authorities, particularly the administration, to dedicate themselves in volunteering for the rescue mission, much of which is still needed.


A translation of the actor's social media post read, "Due to heavy rains of cyclone 'Michaung' in Chennai and its suburbs, the public including children, women and elderly are facing a lot of trouble. There are reports that thousands of people suffer without water and food and without sufficient infrastructure. There are still many voices on social media asking for help to rescue flooded areas. At this time, I urge all public movement administrators to volunteer themselves in the rescue operations being run by the government to help people in the affected areas. #आइए Join hands and erase the pain"

Other actors too have voiced their support for victims of the cyclone


Brothers and actors, Suriya and Karthi were among the first few celebrity faces to acknowledge the devastation brought about by cyclone Michaung. The actors have already donated a sum of 10 lakhs in the first phase to the areas of Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Thiruvallur.

Not just this, the actors will also be supporting the victims through the distribution of essential items  including food in collaboration with their fan clubs.
