All of the fans of the DC Universe are looking forward to a bright future for the franchise, with James Gunn as its main character and Superman: Legacy as the movie that will set things in motion. In addition to serving as the film's director and screenwriter, Gunn has already announced the start of production. According to the filmmaker himself, the production of the film will start in March 2024.

James Gunn refutes plot line rumours, confirms filming date

A rumoured logline of Superman: Legacy surfaced online earlier this week, which read, “Superman, a cub reporter in Metropolis, embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent."

Addressing the rumour, Gunn said “Not sure where this logline came from. I didn’t write it. It has elements of truth (obviously based on things I’ve said in the past). But I wouldn’t describe the plot this way, & I wouldn’t call Clark a cub reporter. He’s a thirty-year-old full-on reporter.”

In the process, the director revealed when the project goes on the floors and expressed gratitude to his crew for working nonstop to make this happen. He added, "But, yeah, we shoot in March. I’m grateful every day our production team worked their asses off to keep things going through the strikes. Forces impelled us to stop many times - & if we had, we’d never make July 2025."

The DC Studios film, which Gunn and Peter Safran announced in March, deals with the superhero's journey to make sense of both his aristocratic Kryptonian heritage and his small-town, midwestern upbringing as Clark Kent. Gunn has also written the script of the film, which has a release date of July 11, 2025. Despite the twin strikes, Superman: Legacy is sticking to its release date.
