Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried, the original members of Mean Girls, came together for a Walmart Black Friday commercial earlier this year. However, one important member of the Plastics was conspicuously absent. The reason Regina George did not attend the North Shore High School reunion is now being disclosed by Rachel McAdams.

Rachel McAdams explains why she avoided Mean Girls commercial

In a conversation with Variety, McAdams was asked about the reason she didn’t participate in the Mean Girls Walmart commercial. To which the actress replied that she didn’t know her co-star had already said yes to it. Additionally, she wasn’t excited about doing a Mean Girls reunion for an ad clip.

She said, “I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing a commercial if I’m being totally honest. A movie sounded awesome, but I’ve never done commercials, and it just didn’t feel like my bag. Also… I didn’t know that everyone was doing it. I would, of course, always love to be a part of a Mean Girls reunion and hang with my plastics, but yeah, I found that out later.”

McAdams also addressed the speculation that she would make an appearance in the forthcoming Mean Girls movie musical, which is a screen version of the Broadway production. The Notebook star stated that while she had discussions with Tina Fey, things didn't work out. The original Regina George, however, is still eager to see the movie despite everything.

“Tina and I sort of dabbled with a few ideas, but it was tough to make it all work in the end. I was really down for whatever she wanted to do. I think the direction it went in will be fantastic and I cannot wait to see it,” said McAdams.
