L2 Empuraan's Pre-sale Boosted By Corporate Bookings? Mohanlal And Prithviraj Sukumaran Accused Of 'Disgraceful' Practice

L2 Empuraan Advance Booking: Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran are gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated movie which is the second installment of a planned trilogy. Even before the film debuted on big screens, it started breaking records at the box office with its pre-sales. The movie is said to have earned over ₹58 crore at the global box office through advance ticket sales. However, the Indian Box Office has accused Mollywood's stalwarts of corporate booking.

L2 Empuraan's numbers are boosted by self-bookings?

Taking to X, India Box Office stated that L2 Empuraan has 'no hype' outside Kerala and the core Malayalam market. However, even in these regions, the makers are boosting numbers through self-bookings. He called this practice 'disgraceful'.

"It's shameful that @Mohanlal sir is doing all this manipulation. He is completely losing all the credibility of 40 years... #L2Empuraan has NO HYPE outside Kerala and the core Malyalam movies market. But even in these regions, numbers are hugely boosted by self bookings. I didn't expect @PrithviOfficial and other producers to approve of such a disgraceful practice," read the post.

L2: Empuraan day 1 advance booking report

According to Sacnilk, the movie has earned ₹14.51 crore at the box office in India with the maximum reported in Kerala (₹8.75 crore), followed by Karnataka (₹2.8 crore). The worldwide pre-sales have crossed ₹58 crore. The action thriller broke the 24-hour record set by Prabhas-led Kalki 2898 AD by selling over 350K tickets in advance booking on the platform.

What is the budget for the movie?

According to IMDb, the movie is expected to be one of the most expensive films in India with a budget of ₹400 crore. It is the second installment in a planned trilogy, it is a follow-up to Lucifer (2019). Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj, the movie also stars  Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran and Abhimanyu Singh in pivotal roles.

The movie will be released in five regional languages - Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Tamil - on March 27.
