The Diplomat starring John Abraham released in cinemas on March 14. Helmed by Shivam Nair, the film is based on a real-life incident narrating the ordeal of an Indian girl. Soon, the thriller film will be making its digital debut.
As per the streaming partner slate attached to the theatrical cut, The Diplomat will be available on Netflix after it’s time in cinemas. However, the exact release date on streaming is yet to be confirmed. As per the standard release window, the film is expected to land on OTT approximately 8 weeks after its theatrical release.
In an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami , John Abraham discussed the complexities of real-life rescue missions. He added, drawing a parallel to Hollywood’s Argo, he described how careful manoeuvring and strategic diplomacy were essential in executing the mission.
The Diplomat revolves around an Indian diplomat who tries to repatriate an Indian girl from Pakistan , where she was presumably forced and deceived into marrying against her will. Helmed by Shivam Nair, the film also featured Sadia, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, Jagjeet Sandhu, Vidhartri Bandi and Ram Gopal Bajaj among others. Abraham played the role of real-life Indian diplomat JP Singh and his performance has been praised by many.
According to Sacnilk’s report, in the first week, The Diplomat has minted ₹19.15 crore, while worldwide collection is ₹26.80 crore. Highest occupancy has been recorded in Chennai (19.67%), Pune( 12.75%), Jaipur (11.25%), Hyderabad (10.75%) and Mumbai (8.50%). The movie is expected to record a substantial growth at the box office on the coming weekend.
