DC Box Office Collection: Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi's starrer earned positive reviews from critics and audiences, with many lauding the performances of both actors. This helped the film's business of the film on the first day at the box office. Even overseas, the film performed well, given that it was Lokesh's debut in the acting world.

According to Sacnilk, the film earned ₹4.10 crore across 3504 shows, taking the gross collection to ₹4.70 crore. In Tamil, the film earned ₹2.60 crore, followed by the Telugu version, at ₹1.25 crore. Overseas, the film grossed ₹1 crore, taking the worldwide total to ₹5.70 crore.

DC registered 45.57 per cent overall Tamil occupancy on Friday, with maximum reported in Puducherry (90.3 per cent).

The film was widely praised by the audience, with many praising the director Arun Matheswaran for the direction. Many said that the plot is repetitive, but it was the storytelling that impressed the movie buffs.

What is the plot of DC?

Lokesh plays Devadas, a man with a violent past who finds himself on the run from the police after a police officer is killed. As authorities hunt for the murderer, Devadas also becomes entangled in a separate case involving stolen weapons, with both investigations eventually converging. Amid the chaos, Devadas shares a complicated relationship with Chandra. As betrayal, sacrifice and danger threaten their lives, the two are forced to rely on one another in a desperate fight for survival.

The music of the film, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is also earning widespread praise. Apart from Lokesh and Wamiqa, the film also stars Kasthuri Raja and Avinash Raghudevan in pivotal roles. Produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures, the film is loosely adapted from the novel Devdas (1917).
