Vettaiyan: Rajinikanth starrer TJ Gnanavel film to release in Summer 2024?

The Rajinikanth led Thalaivar 170 was officially christened as Vettaiyan on the actor's 73rd birthday. The film now has a tentative release timeline.

Rajinikanth is currently in the midst of filming for his 170th outing to the cinemas - Vettaiyan, formerly titled Thalaivar 170. The TJ Gnanavel helmed film has been progressing at a steady pace, having already made it through the first two schedules of filming. There now appears to be an update about the tentative release date of the much-awaited project.

Is Vettaiyan eyeing a Summer 2024 release?


As per a recent OTT Play report, Vettaiyan is well on track to release in the first quarter of 2024. The film's makers have reportedly been eyeing a Summer 2024 release if everything goes to plan. More specifically, the second week of April has been zeroed in on as the potential release date for the multi-starrer. It must be noted, that the first week of April will see the release of another major 2024 project - the Koratala Siva helmed Devara, starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor.

Currently, the film is underway in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Besides Rajinikanth, the Tuticorin schedule also involves Fahadh Faasil who holds a prominent role in the film. Recently, a still featuring Rajinikanth and Fahadh Faasil from the sets of the film, has gone viral on social media.

Vettaiyan only recently got christened


For the unversed, Rajinikanth celebrates his birthday on December 12 every year. This year, as the veteran actor turned 73, Lyca Productions - the production house bankrolling the project - chose to commemorate the occasion for the actor's fans by announcing the title of the film with an elaborate title teaser. Thalaivar 170, was then christened Vettaiyan.

The teaser added much mystery to the plot of the film as the scenes shift from Rajinikanth reading a book with Subhash Chandra Bose on it to being seen carrying a lathi - the teaser eventually ends with the veteran actor holding a gun, adding much intrigue to what is to come with th TJ Gnanavel film.
