Rajinikanth’s Lal Salaam pulls out of crowded Pongal 2024 race, averts clash with Captain Miller?

The second week of January 2024 is one of the biggest movies ever for Indian box office. While the Pongal/Sankranthi weekend will see many big Telugu releases like Guntur Kaaram, Naa Saami Ranga, Ravi Teja-starrer Eagle among others, the Tamil release schedule is not without its sharing of competition either. Three big films Sivakarthikeyan-starrer Ayalaan, Dhanush-starrer Captain Miller and Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s production Lal Salaam were scheduled for a January 12 release. However, there seems to be a slight shift in the said release plan.

Lal Salaam makers released their first single on Monday

According to a few media reports, the makers of Lal Salaam are now planning to post their film’s release. However, there are no official confirmation reports about this development as yet.  Earlier, on Monday, the makers of Lal Salaam had released their first single Ther Thiruvizha, sung by Shankar Mahadevan, A R Raihanah, Deepthi Suresh and Yogi Sekar, and composed by AR Rahman.

Co-incidentally, AR Rahman is also composing music for the other big Tamil release Ayalaan. A few days ago, the Ayalaan makers released their second single titled Ayalaa Ayalaa, which was sung by Rahman himself.  

Rajinikanth to appear in a special cameo in Lal Salaam

The primary cast of Lal Salaam comprises of actors like Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth. Besides producing and directing the film, Aishwarya Rajinikanth also helms the writing of Lal Salaam, which marks her 3rd directorial venture after 3 and Vai Raja Vai. Besides Lal Salaam, Aishwarya Rajinikanth is also planning to direct the untitled Sourav Ganguly biopic as well make her Hindi film debut O Saathi Chal, which has rumouredly been long time in the planning. 

Earlier, on Rajinikanth’s birthday, the Lal Salaam makers released a brief teaser video, introducing the superstar's character in the film. As evident from the said teaser, Rajinikanth is making a special appearance in the film, playing a devout Muslim man. Additionally, the film reportedly also has a cameo by legendary cricket Kapil Dev.
