2002 Telugu film Jayam was among the biggest hits of the year. Apart from the star cast, one actress left the audience impressed - Yamini Swetha Naidu.
Over the years, the Telugu film industry has gained prominence not only across India but also across the world. The industry has also given many artists the space to showcase their talent. In this context, 2002 romantic drama Jayam was headlined by Nithiin and Sadha and directed by Teja. While the lead was highly praised, another actress left an impression among the audience - child artist Yamini Swetha Naidu.
What is Yamini Swetha Naidu Doing?
Yamini Swetha Naidu who played the role of Sadha's younger sister in Jayam, is the daughter of Telugu serial actress, Jayalakshmi. The audience was in awe to watch her on-screen as she cast a spell with her cuteness and charm. Her role in the film was highly appreciated and loved by all. For Jayam, Yamini also won a Nandi Award for the category of Best Child Artist.
Its been 21 years of Jayam's release and it is now known that Yamini has left the entertainment industry. As per reports, she has moved to the US for the past few years and has been away from showbiz. She is married and also has a daughter.
Yamini was reportedly in school at the time of her starring in Jayam and was required to take a long leave of absence in order to complete shooting for the film. It is also said that she was offered a role as a film lead, which she ended up declining.
About 2002 Jayam
Apart from the main lead of Jayam, it also featured Gopichand in the role of the antagonist. the film was produced by Teja himself under his home production Chithram Movies. The cinematography of the film was done by Sameer Reddy and the music was by RP Patnaik.
The film was remade in Tamil by M Raja with the same title in the following year with Sadha and Gopichand reprising their roles.
