Vijay Kiragandur comments on Salaar being a franchise

Salaar's complete title reads, Salaar: Part One - Ceasefire. This evidently sets up the film as the first of a franchise. For the unversed, Vijay Kiragandur's previous project, the Yash led KGF, was also a franchise. Commenting on whether this is the new trend being followed by Hombale Films, Kiragandur made it clear that the only reason KGF, Kantara and Salaar have all been made in two parts, simply because the script demanded it.

He said, "To be frank, we didn’t plan to make a second part for KGF when we started the film. After shooting for a few days, the director explained to us that the movie needed to be made in two parts. But the situation isn’t the same for Kantara. We were doubtful if people from other regions would watch a film based on the traditions of Karnataka. Kantara can be made in two to three parts because the story demands. The same is the case with Salaar."
