Haryana Opinion Poll: BJP's TikTok-fame Sonali Phogat may fall short

The Adampur constituency is set to witness a dramatic contest between three-time sitting MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi of Congress and TikTok star Sonali Phogat from BJP

In the upcoming Haryana assembly elections which will be conducted on October 21, the Adampur constituency will witness a dramatic contest between sitting MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi of Congress and TikTok star Sonali Phogat from BJP. As per Jan Ki Baat's Opinion poll based on on-ground surveys ahead of the elections, the Adampur seat is likely to witness Kuldeep Bishnoi of Congress beating BJP's Sonali Phogat to retain the seat.

About Kuldeep Bishnoi

In the assembly election of 2014, Kuldeep Bishnoi had won with 56,757 votes as against the runner up Kulveer Singh Beniwal of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) who got 39,508 votes. Bishnoi is the younger son of late Bhajan Lal who had represented the seat eight times in the assembly. While 15 candidates are in the fray from this Jat-dominated constituency that has a voter strength of over 1.60 lakh, the main contest is more than likely to be between Phogat and 51-year-old Bishnoi.

TikTok sensation Sonali Phogat

Sonali Singh Phogat, has been fielded by the BJP to contest the elections from Adampur constituency. Apart from being a TikTok sensation and a TV personality, Phogat is the National Vice President of BJP's Mahila Morcha. She is also in charge of the Scheduled Tribe wing of Haryana, New Delhi. Furthermore, she is also a member of the BJP's National Executive Committee. Phogat has earlier worked in tribal areas of Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh as well. In a first-ever instance, a candidate is being given a ticket who rose to fame using the video-sharing platform. The Haryana Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on October 21 whereas the results will be announced on October 24.

The previous assembly elections in the state had witnessed the BJP storming to power by unseating the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led government by winning 47 of the 90 seats.
