Navratri special: IRCTC to offer special 'Vrat ka khaana' till Oct 8

The Indian Railways has started special Navratri menu for people observing fast during Navratri period which will be available only at selected stations.

The Indian Railways has started a special Navratri menu for the travellers observing fast during the nine-day Navratri period. The special Vrat meals can be ordered through e-catering services of IRCTC. The passengers can avail Navratri special meals through IRCTC's e-Catering website or by using the 'Food On Track' mobile app. However, the passengers will have to place their orders two hours before the commencement of their journey and submit a valid Passenger Name Record (PNR). The passengers can also choose to pay online or on delivery of the meal.

Special Navratri Menu by Indian Railways

The special Vrat menu was started by the Railways on September 29 and to continue till the end of Navratri, i.e. October 7. The Vrat menu consists of  satvik diet like sabudana, kuttu ka atta and offers a variety of dishes like sabudana khichdi, dry makhane, sabudana moongfali namkeen, aaloo ki tikki, Navratri thaali, jeera aloo, french fries, sabudana vada, falhari chuda, falhari thaali, malai barfi, rasmalai, milk cake, lassi, plain curd and many others. IRCTC had earlier also tweeted on September 30 informing people about the special Navratri meal. “In order to make train travel during this time of the year less of a hassle, IRCTC is offering vrat ka khana as a part of its e-Catering menu,” the railway's catering arm said.

Stations Offering Navratri Meals

However, the special Navratri meals will only be available at selected restaurants and at hand-picked stations.  Stations offering Navratri meals are Kanpur Central, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Jaipur, Bina, Patna, Rajendra Nagar, Hazrat Nizammuddin, Ambala Cantt, Jhansi, Aurangabad, Akola, Itarsi, Vasai Road, Vapi, Kalyan, Borivali, Durg, Daund, Gwalior, Mathura, Nagpur, Bhopal, Ujjain and Ahmednagar.
