5 injured in Nashik-Mumbai highway collision

Thane: In a tragic incident on Monday morning, five people sustained serious injuries in a collision between a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a truck on the Nashik-Mumbai highway in Maharashtra's Thane district. The mishap occurred around 7.30 am in the Panch Pakhadi area.
The SUV, en route from Vasai in Palghar district to Thane station with railway cables, suffered a tyre puncture, leading to the collision with a truck transporting nine tonnes of bricks from Bhiwandi to Mankhurd in Mumbai. Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief, Yasin Tadvi, provided details of the incident.
Firefighters were quick to respond, rescuing the SUV driver who was trapped in the vehicle. The driver and four other occupants, all seriously injured, were promptly transported to Thane Civil Hospital for medical attention.
Among the injured, two individuals in critical condition were later shifted to hospitals in Mumbai for specialized care. The authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision on this crucial highway, emphasizing the need for enhanced road safety measures to prevent such accidents.
