Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amid strain in ties, AAP and Congress will be holding a seat-sharing meeting on Monday, informed senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid. AAP's National Secretary Pankaj Kumar Gupta will chair the meeting, as per sources. The relationship between the two parties have hit a rock bottom in AAP-ruled Punjab where Congress is the main opposition party. The already-strained ties have taken a turn for worse after the arrest of Punjab Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Thursday in connection with a 2015 drugs case. The Congress party had called the move 'politically motivated.'

In Punjab, the state unit of the Congress has shown reluctance in fighting together with the ruling AAP.  Punjab Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa has already rejected the idea of any alliance with AAP in the state. Expressing his discontent, Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has declared that the party will fight all the 13 seats alone. He further stated that there was no direction from the party high command on any seat-sharing deal in Punjab.
