New Delhi: A fresh controversy erupted on Saturday after the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) shared a video of a Congress worker being groped at a party event on stage in the presence of Congress MP Deepender Hooda and other leaders in Haryana . Calling the Congress, the most 'anti-women',  BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla raised questions on the silence of Deepender Hooda. He claimed that many women Congress leaders had left the party due to misconduct.

"A very shameful video has surfaced. It is circulating in the media, and Kumari Selja has confirmed it. In broad daylight, on a Congress platform in the presence of Deepender Hooda, a female leader was openly harassed and abused by Congress workers... If women in Congress are not safe on public platforms during the day, how can the state's women feel secure?" Poonawalla said.

Asserting that the Congress "signifies an anti-women mindset", Poonawalla alleged, "Many female Congress leaders have left due to the misconduct by so-called Congressmen. Yet, Priyanka Vadra, who promotes the slogan of women's empowerment, remains silent. Congress signifies an anti-women mindset. Will Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi take action against Hooda supporters?"

Echoing similar remarks, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said it was in the culture and DNA of the Congress to disrespect women, the poor, and Dalits. "If we get a complaint in this regard, then we will take action. Our government will take strict action and not spare anyone. Women are an integral part of society," Saini said.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters on the alleged molestation attempt, Congress MP Kumari Selja said “I spoke to her, she told me that some people were touching her and trying to remove her from the stage. We saw the same in the video as well and when I confirmed this with her, she told me that someone misbehaved with her. If something like this happens to a woman today, it is highly condemnable. Action should be taken on this...”
