Bengaluru police cracks robbery-cum-assault case, five held
In a series of arrests, five persons were caught on charges of assault-cum-robbery by the Bengaluru police after they had attacked a pawn broker with machete
Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police in a slew of arrests have apprehended five persons on the charges of robbery and assault and were living in different locations in the city.
Police said that the accused had attacked the victim working as a pawn broker with a machete and made away with Rs 60 lakh. The incident had taken place on December 11. Probe further revealed that Sanketh who works as a pawn broker was lured by the assailants under the pretext of selling gold at a discounted price near Siddappaji Library.
According to the police, in order to evade suspicion, the accused after committing the crime separated their ways and began to live low profile at different locations in the city with the loot. Swung into action, in less than 24 hours of the complaint, the Bengaluru cops nabbed the first accused Mohammed Rizwan on December 13, and seized Rs 50 lakh in cash and a vehicle used for the crime from his residence in JC Nagar Kurubarahalli.
A source in the department said that “The irregular pattern or nature of such crimes is difficult to put a cap onto. The gangs who work on the same model get caught easily,” During probe it further came to light that all the accused who are said to be in their 20's and did a meticulous planning. The further arrests were made on December 14, where accused Ashraf Babu, Sathish and Diwakar were arrested by cops from their respective residence in Rajajinagar and a sum of Rs 25,000 each was seized from Ashraf and Satish and Rs 50,000 was seized from the residence of Diwakar. It has been learnt that all the accused were planning to flee with the money.
