Bengaluru Techie Drives To Pune, Confesses Killing Wife at Police Station & Consumes Poison Before Surrendering

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru techie Rakesh Khedekar, who stabbed his wife and stuffed her body in a suitcase before fleeing to Pune, has now been arrested but is currently in the hospital.

The Bengaluru Murder-accused, who had driven to Pune, went to the police station and confessed to the crime and before surrendering, he consumed poison and attempted suicide.

Bengaluru Techie Who Murdered Wife, Consumes Poison

The Bengaluru techie drove to Pune after killing his wife and went straight to Shirwal Police Station in the Maharashtra city. At the police station, Khedekar confessed to murdering his wife and then before surrendering, consumed poison, in an attempt to commit suicide.

The police immediately took him into custody and admitted him in a hospital in Pune where he is currently undergoing treatment. To handle the case, a team of police officers including the PSI have travelled to Pune from Hulimavu; the techie's health condition will now determine the police's next steps. 

If Rakesh Khedekar is stable, he will be brought back to Bengaluru today, or else will continue to receive treatment in Pune before his official and formal arrest and transfer to the Karnataka capital.

Rakesh Khedekar, a project manager at a software firm in Bengaluru, who lived with his wife, Gauri, killed his wife in a fit of rage. The couple, who hailed from Maharashtra and were currently living in the Karnataka capital, had arguments frequently. 

In one such argument on March 26, the techie hit his wife and in retaliation, she threw a knife at him, injuring him. Enraged, he used the same knife to stab her in the stomach and then slit her throat, murdering her at the spot. After committing the crime, he stuffed her body in a suitcase and kept in the bathroom. He then ate a full meal and called up his in-laws, to confess to them.

The Bengaluru techie, who fled to Pune, has now been arrested. An investigation has been launched and the victim's body, which was found with several injury marks, has been sent for postmortem.
