Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a  24-year-old man and three others were injured when a 100-foot-tall chariot, associated with the historic Madduramma temple, collapsed in Rayasandra.

The chariot was being pulled by devotees towards the temple as part of a religious tradition when the incident occurred.

According to the police, the chariot in Rayasandra collapsed due to miscalculations combined with strong winds and rain, which destabilized its structure, leading to the casualties and injuries.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as devotees fled for safety when the massive structure collapsed.

The deceased has been identified as Lohith, a resident of Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Of the injured, a 16-year-old girl is in critical condition, while two others are stable and receiving medical care.

Videos of the incident have since spread widely on social media, capturing the towering chariot swaying precariously before toppling.
