Shivpuri (MP): A six-month-old baby suffered severe eye damage after being subjected to a horrifying black magic ritual by a self-proclaimed tantrik in Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district. The child was hung upside down over a fire as part of an 'exorcism' ritual, leaving him almost blind, officials confirmed on Saturday.

Baby’s Eyes Badly Damaged After ‘Exorcism’ Ritual

The shocking incident took place on March 13 in the Kolaras police station area. The baby's parents, seeking relief for their son’s discomfort, took him to tantrik Raghuveer Dhakad for treatment. Instead of providing any medical aid, Dhakad claimed the child was haunted by evil shadows and began an exorcism ritual.

During the gruesome act, the baby was hung upside down over a fire while his parents watched, believing the ritual would cure him. The child's painful cries did not stop the ritual, as the parents placed their faith in the occultist’s methods.

Parents Rush Infant to Hospital

The incident came to light when the parents, realizing their child’s worsening condition, rushed him to the Shivpuri District Hospital for treatment.

Superintendent of Police Aman Singh Rathod confirmed the case, stating, “The boy is being treated at the hospital.”

A case was registered against tantrik Raghuveer Dhakad based on a complaint by Janved Parihar, the village Kotwar (a traditional crime reporter for police).

Police officials stated that Dhakad was still on the run, and an investigation was underway to locate and arrest him.

Doctors Say Baby’s Vision May Not Be Restored

Shivpuri District Hospital ophthalmologist Dr. Girish Chaturvedi provided a grim update on the baby’s condition.

“The child’s eyes are badly damaged, and he has been admitted to the ICU. We will only know after 72 hours if his eyesight will be restored. His eyes are seriously injured,” Dr. Chaturvedi said.

Occult Practices Continue to Harm Innocents

This incident has raised serious concerns over blind faith in black magic and exorcism rituals, which continue to endanger lives in rural areas. The police assured that strict action would be taken against the accused tantrik, and authorities urged people to rely on scientific medical treatment instead of superstitious practices.
