Kolkata: A bloodstained blue button, slit wrists, and deep wounds—these are the gruesome details that have emerged from the mysterious deaths of two women and a teenage girl in Kolkata’s Tangra area. The post-mortem reports confirmed murder, raising serious questions about who was behind the crime. Police are now investigating whether the two husbands, who are brothers, were involved or if there was an outsider behind the killings.
According to investigators, the two women had their throats slit and wrist injuries, while the teenage girl died of poisoning.
The victims—Sudeshna and Romi Dey, and Prasun Dey’s daughter—were found dead inside their home.
Just hours later, the two brothers and a boy from the family were injured in a car crash near a Metro Rail pillar. It was one of the injured men who alerted police about the deaths.

Two brothers – Pranay and Prasun Dey – lived in that house in the Tangra area with their wives Sudeshna and Romi, respectively. Pranay’s son and Prasun’s daughter were the other occupants of the house. The brothers had earlier told police that the family had made a suicide pact and consumed porridge laced with sleeping pills.

However, police suspect they were trying to mislead the investigation. "It seems that they were trying to hide something. We need to question them. Once they are declared fit enough to talk, our officers will start questioning them," news agency PTI quoted a police officer.
The health of the two brothers and the injured boy has improved, but doctors have not yet cleared them for interrogation.
A team of forensic experts collected samples from the bathroom, washbasin, and rooms where the bodies were found. Investigators are also examining CCTV footage from the house to track who entered or left in the days leading up to the crime.
Police have also seized 12 keys, a bloodstained blue button from the car’s backseat, and blood marks inside the vehicle.
The car, which crashed at 3:15 AM, had no mechanical faults, raising further suspicions about the sequence of events. "We need to gather more details about the vehicle’s speed and route," news agency PTI quoted an officer.
Meanwhile, investigators discovered that the family owned a tannery business and had been struggling financially.
With several unanswered questions, police continue to unravel the chilling mystery surrounding this shocking triple murder case.
