New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan, who had threatened Republic TV’s journalist for questioning him about his son's misconduct with the police, was granted anticipatory bail by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday. He is accused of obstructing a police investigation and aiding a suspect in evading arrest in a murder case.

Previously, the court had provided him interim protection from arrest. Under the bail conditions, if detained, Khan will be released upon furnishing a personal bond of ₹25,000 with one surety of the same amount.

The court also directed him to cooperate with the investigation and avoid tampering with evidence.

According to the police, Khan allegedly sheltered Chavez Khan, who has been declared a proclaimed offender by the court. However, Amanatullah Khan refuted the allegations in an email to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, claiming he was being falsely implicated.

He argued that Chavez Khan had already been released on bail following his arrest in a raid. "Some people in the Delhi Police are framing me in a false case to cover up their mistake," Khan stated in his letter.
