Kolkata: ‘Nabanna Abhijan’, which was meant to be a peaceful student protest turned violent after the Calcutta Police launched an attack to control the voices seeking justice for Abhaya.

Massive protest rallies are being conducted in Kolkata, as protestors march towards the Central Secretariat demanding the resignation of CM Mamata Banerjee.

To curb the protest and the voice of the people, Calcutta Police has launched tear gas, lathi charge attacks and water cannons at the protestors.
The iconic Howrah Bridge in Kolkata has turned into a fortress but the protestors continue to stay strong; they bravely face the attacks of the Mamata cops.
Nabanna Abhijan in Kolkata
The demonstration, led by student platform Chhatrasamaj and the Sangrami Joutha Mancha of state government employees, began from College Square in north Kolkata and Santragachi in Howrah.
Protesters are demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
Protesters accused Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of failing to ensure the safety of women, which they believe contributed to the RG Kar incident that has sparked nationwide outrage.
The procession from College Square aimed to cross Howrah Bridge to reach Nabanna, while the group from Santragachi planned to proceed towards the state secretariat via Sibpur. In anticipation of the rally, police set up barricades along roads leading to Nabanna and enforced prohibitory orders in the area.
