Bengaluru: A 32-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death by her husband in front of her 13-year-old daughter at a bus stand in Bengaluru’s Sunkadakatte area on Monday morning, police said.

The victim, identified as Rekha, was attacked by her husband, Lohitashwa (35), after a heated argument. According to police, the incident took place in full public view, and bystanders who tried to intervene were threatened by the accused, who was armed with a knife.

Rekha was stabbed multiple times in the chest and stomach and died on the spot. Her teenage daughter, who witnessed the incident, is a key witness in the case.

Police said the couple had been married for just three months. This was the second marriage for both. Rekha worked at a call centre and Lohitashwa was employed as a cab driver. They had met through mutual friends and were in a relationship for about a year and a half before getting married.

The couple lived in a rented house near Sunkadakatte. Rekha’s elder daughter from her previous marriage lived with them, while her younger daughter stayed with her parents.

Officials stated that the couple often had arguments, and marital issues are believed to be the motive behind the crime.

On the day of the incident, after a quarrel at home, Rekha and her daughter went to the bus stand. Lohitashwa followed them, confronted Rekha again, and attacked her when the argument escalated. When her daughter tried to intervene, he took out a knife and stabbed Rekha.

A murder case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing at the Kamakshipalya police station.
