Chamoli: A glacier burst near Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district has trapped 57 workers in a massive avalanche. The workers were working on a construction project in Mana village when the glacier burst.
Initial reports confirm that 10 workers have been rescued, and efforts are underway to locate the remaining 47 workers, who were employed under the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
The tragic event took place on the morning of February 27, 2025, when an iceberg fell on the workers. This caused a devastating avalanche near the Badrinath Temple, which is located about 3 kilometers from the site of the disaster. Many construction workers were buried under the snow, and some people are still missing.
Rescue operations have been launched in full force, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the Indian Army deployed to help with the operation. However, the bad weather conditions have slowed down the progress of the rescue work.

Chamoli District Magistrate (DM) Sandeep Tiwari is currently meeting with NDRF officials to coordinate the rescue efforts. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has extended his prayers for the safety of the trapped workers and expressed hope for their quick rescue.
Reports indicate that the avalanche, triggered by the glacier burst, has also caused landslides in the region, making the rescue efforts even more challenging. Some of the rescued workers have been admitted to the Army Hospital in critical condition.

The authorities have informed the public that they are making every effort to locate the missing workers, with more teams being sent to the accident site.
As the situation continues to develop, the search for the remaining 47 workers trapped under the snow is ongoing, and officials are hopeful for more rescues.
The glacier burst near Badrinath Dham has become one of the most concerning incidents in the region, and everyone is hoping for the safe return of all the workers involved.
