Match Summary of 2025 ICC Champions Trophy Final

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against India. Openers Rachin Ravindra and Will Young provided a solid start, adding 57 runs off 47 balls. However, Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy struck first for India, dismissing Will Young for 13 runs. Ravindra followed soon after, scoring 37 runs off 29 balls, with Kuldeep Yadav taking the wicket. The Indian wrist spinner continued his dominance, removing Kane Williamson for 13 runs. The Kiwi captain, who had scored a century in the previous match, couldn't make a big impact.

After three quick wickets fell, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell steadied the innings, adding 57 runs for the fifth wicket off 87 balls. Phillips was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy for 34, while Mitchell top-scored with 63 runs off 101 balls. Michael Bracewell's finishing touch helped New Zealand reach a total of 251/7 at the end of their innings.

In response, India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill got off to a fast start. Rohit took the attack to the Kiwi bowlers from the outset, scoring 76 runs off 83 balls, his first half-century of the tournament. Gill also contributed with 31 runs from 50 balls. Despite the solid start, India lost three quick wickets for just 20 runs, with Virat Kohli departing for just one. However, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, Hardik Pandya , and KL Rahul provided the crucial middle-order support, leading India to victory and securing the title.
