Chennai: DMK councillor arrested for smashing autodriver's head with hammer

The police stated that Kumar was last seen with councillor Damodharan before he went missing.

Chennai: Days after an autorickshaw driver was killed brutally with a hammer, the police on Sunday arrested a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) councillor. The suspect has been identified as R Damodharan, councilor of Ward 45 of Tambaram City Municipal. As per local police, the body of the deceased, identified as K Kumar from Kolapakkam, was discovered on the streets by a local in the Padalam town with deep injury marks on the head. Soon after the police was alerted, they rushed to the spot and the body was sent for post-mortem. There was also a missing complaint filed at the station.

According to police officials, the crime was committed on December 20. The police stated that Kumar was last seen with councillor Damodharan, as per reports. Kumar was reportedly hired as Damodharan's help.
