Chilling Video Captures Exact Moment of Fatal Crash of Atiq Ahmed's Son Aban Ahmed in UP's Jhansi | WATCH

New Delhi: A dashcam video showing the moments before the fatal road accident involving Abaan Ahmed, the youngest son of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, has surfaced online, providing fresh visual details of the August 6 crash in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district.

The footage, recorded by a vehicle travelling behind Abaan’s Hyundai Creta, shows the SUV moving at high speed before overtaking a pickup truck. Moments later, the car appears to veer towards the left side of the road, lose control and crash into a road divider. The impact sends the SUV several feet into the air.

According to reports, the accident took place in the Poonch police station area, around 70 kilometres before Jhansi, as Abaan, 21, and his companions were travelling from Prayagraj to Jhansi to meet his elder brother Ali Ahmed, who is lodged in Jhansi jail.

The crash killed Abaan and his friend Sonu. Three other occupants - Umar Ahmed, Mohammad Zaid and Aslam - were injured and taken to a nearby medical facility. A witness who reached the spot shortly after the collision said the occupants were trapped inside the badly damaged vehicle and that an iron rod was used to open a door and rescue them.

Initial reports had suggested that the driver may have lost control while trying to avoid an animal that had suddenly appeared on the highway. However, the newly surfaced dashcam footage appears to show the vehicle overtaking another vehicle immediately before moving towards the divider.

According to reports, the Creta was travelling at around 120 kmph when it struck the divider. The collision caused extensive damage to the vehicle. Abaan, who was seated on the side where the impact occurred, suffered severe internal injuries.

His post-mortem reportedly found injuries to the liver, lungs and spleen, along with multiple fractured ribs, with doctors attributing his death to massive internal bleeding. Sonu reportedly suffered a fatal head injury and skull fracture.

The dashcam footage could now provide investigators with important evidence as they examine the sequence of events leading to the crash. Police are expected to assess the video alongside eyewitness accounts, forensic findings and other evidence to determine the precise cause of the accident.

Abaan was the youngest of Atiq Ahmed’s five sons. His elder brother Ali is lodged in Jhansi jail, while another brother, Asad, was killed in a police encounter in April 2023.
