Mathura: In a major success for anti-narcotics enforcement agencies, a drug peddler was arrested in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura on Tuesday, with narcotics valued at Rs 3 crore seized from his possession.
The smuggler, identified as Mohammad Gayas Ansari from Daulatpur village in Bihar's Jamui district, was on his way to Delhi after supplying the drugs in Mathura, officials said.
Superintendent of Police (City) Dr. Arvind Kumar said that the ANTF received a tip-off about a smuggler transporting a large quantity of heroin and smack from Mathura.
The suspect was arrested near a warehouse, and 1.62 kg of heroin and 469 grams of smack were seized from him.
According to the police, Ansari had been purchasing heroin from Bihar and distributing it to areas around Delhi, Faridabad, and Rohtak.
He had previously carried out 40-50 similar deliveries, police said.
In a major success for anti-narcotic agencies, drugs worth Rs 2 crore were seized in Assam’s South Salmara, an official statement said on Sunday.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 8,000 Yaba tablets were smuggled from a neighboring state with the intention of being sent to Bangladesh.
“Major Drug Bust in South Salmara; 8,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2 crore seized. Acting on reliable information, an anti-narcotics operation was carried out by @SSalmaraPolice in a house and seized 8,000 Yaba tablets worth ₹2 crores smuggled from a neighbouring State and destined to be sent to Bangladesh,” Assam Chief Minister Sarma posted on X.
While lauding the efforts of the police, Assam CM also said that two drug peddlers have been arrested.
In a significant anti-drug operation in Tripura, the East Agartala Police confiscated a huge stash of 1,10,000 Yaba tablets from a hotel in the city. The raid took place at Woodland Park Hotel, Room No. 207, in Moth Chowmohani, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.
