How was the businessman targeted?

Ankur Garg signed a deal for property worth Rs 25 lakh with Kishanpal Singh Chauhan in Ghaziabad, for which he transferred Rs 20 lakh through RTGS in Chauhan’s account. But even after the money was transferred, Garg didn't get the property papers and registry documents.

When he asked for it, he was threatened with life by Kishanpal and Rajkumar. Ankur didn't approach the police immediately, but on Friday, he gave a written complaint to SHO Sahibabad, on the basis of which a first information (FIR) report was lodged against Kishanpal and Rajkumar. However, no arrests have been made in this incident as yet.

Republic spoke to victim and complainant Ankur Garg, who gave a detailed account of what happened. He said, “In the month of December, I finalised a property shown to me by Kishanpal Singh and Rajkumar. At the time of buying the property, I had no idea that Kishanpal Singh is a history sheeter and that several cases of money extortion, murder, blackmail and others were registered against him in Ghaziabad.”

“I was asked to transfer Rs 20 lakh to close the property deal, which I did in the second week of December. But they didn't transfer the papers on my name and after a few days, I realised that I am trapped and this is a way of extortion,” he said.

“I asked Kishanpal Chauhan to return my money. But one day, both the accused called me to their office and threatened me by flashing weapons in front of me. They threatened me, saying that if I went to the police, they would kill me. I was very scared. But on the advice of my family, I gathered courage and got an FIR registered against them,” said Garg.

He now fears the accused are absconding or have gone underground. “Until now, there is no clue of the accused. It seems like they have run away or have gone underground. The police said they are investigating and are also taking help from the cyber team since it was an online transaction,” he said.

Republic also spoke to Ajay Kumar, SHO Sahibabad. He said, “We have lodged an FIR on Friday against the two accused and the investigation is underway. We had sent teams to the address where the property was bought and also to the office of the accused in Sahibabad. But the accused were nowhere to be found and their registered mobile numbers were switched off.”

“Under the sections of extortion, misleading, and threatening, we have registered cases against Kishanpal Singh Chauhan and Rajkumar,” he informed.

“We are simultaneously also taking help from the cyber team. In Ghaziabad, in the span of a year, more than 40 cases of cyber crime and extortion through online mode have been registered. In 32 cases, we have successfully managed to get the money back,” said the SHO.
