Kerala: 56-year-old woman allegedly raped in Kochi, suspect arrested

Kochi: The woman, aged 56, was allegedly raped by a man identified as Firdous Ali in Ernakulam, Kerala, according to police reports on Sunday, December 17.

The incident took place on December 13 when the victim, who was searching for employment in Kochi, was deceived. According to the police statement, “The 56-year-old woman, who was returning after looking for a job in Kochi, was taken away in an auto on the promise that she would be taken to the metro station. He then took her to a swamp near the railway yard and raped her.”

After a comprehensive investigation, authorities successfully identified and apprehended the suspect in Kochi. The accused is set to appear in court today, as confirmed by officials. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving medical treatment for her injuries at Kalamassery Medical College. Investigations into the incident are ongoing to uncover further details.
