Kolkata: Days after attack on the Enforcement Directorate officials in West Bengal, an FIR has been registered against the mob under bailable offence. Confirming about the same, the central probe agency claimed that, the Bengal police have registered the FIR, but the copy of the FIR has not been shared with the ED.

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate's unit in West Bengal submitted a report to its headquarters about the attack on its team during a raid in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district last week on January 5.

The attack on the ED team took place when the ED officials went to Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh's house in Sandeshkhali for a raid in connection with alleged West Bengal ration scam.

During the attack, as many as three ED officials were injured, while several of their vehicles were vandalised by a mob of hundreds of supporters of the TMC leader, as per sources.

An NIA investigation into the attack is likely to be sought by the ED headquarters on the basis of the report, an officer of the agency told PTI. "A two-page report on the attack was sent on Sunday. We have mentioned minute details of the incident and along with that sent videos of the attack. Media reports have also been sent," he said.

He added, "The role of the Basirhat Police on that day has also been mentioned in the report. How they fled the scene on unmarked two-wheelers as the attack began."

A complaint by the ED has already been filed at the Nazat police station in connection with the attack. On the other hand, the family members of the accused TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh have also registered a case against the probe agency. Not only this, the West Bengal police have also registered an FIR on the ED, alleging that they went for a raid without informing the local police.
