New Delhi: In a gruesome incident, a 16-year-old boy was abducted and killed for a Rs 10 lakh ransom in the Wazirabad area of Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with the murder.
According to police, the class 9 student was taken to a secluded area near Bhalaswa Lake, where he was repeatedly stabbed.
"The boy's family received a ransom call for Rs 10 lakh, and later, they found his body," police said.
Police said that the boy had been missing since Sunday, with a complaint filed at the local police station on Monday. He was a student in Mukherjee Nagar.
"During the investigation, it was discovered that the boy was last seen with three other boys, aged 16 and 17, on a motorcycle on Jharoda Pushta Road," the officer said, confirming the sighting with CCTV footage from the area.
The police arrested all three juveniles, who admitted to kidnapping the boy for ransom.
Police said that all three juveniles told investigators that they had taken the boy for a ride on Sunday, then lured him to a forested area near Bhalaswa Lake, where they stabbed him to death before fleeing.
The next day, they used the boy's SIM card to call his father, a driver, and demand the Rs 10 lakh ransom. The victim’s body was later found by police based on information provided by the arrested juveniles, police said.
