Delhi-NCR wake up to fog cover, several flights and trains delayed | LIVE
Weather authorities in the city have issued an "orange alert," predicting similar foggy conditions for the next 2-3 days.

Delhi fog LIVE updates: As a cold wave continues its grip over northern India, the national capital on Wednesday, December 27 saw one of the most dense fog of the season. The weather agencies issued an orange alert for the city for the next 3 days. In some areas, the visibility was almost zero. Residents shared videos and images of fog on social media platform X, sharing the difficulties they are experiencing while travelling. Amid the foggy conditions in Delhi, over 100 flights both international and domestic are running later. The Delhi Airport issued an advisory urging passengers to keep a tab on their respective flights. Furthermore, railway services have also been heavily disturbed. Flights delayed and diverted
After the Delhi Airport issued a passenger advisory, news agency ANI cited Delhi Airport FIDS (Flight Information Display System) that approximately 110 flights both arriving and departure flights were delayed due to dense fog.
As per officials, two SpiceJet flights were diverted at the Delhi airport due to bad weather.
The flights have been diverted to Jaipur between 0900 and 0915 hours.
This development comes as almost 450 flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport due to a dense layer of fog covering the city on Tuesday. According to the aircraft tracking website flightradar24, around 160 arriving and 290 departing flights were delayed.
Several trains cancelled
The dense fog in Delhi also disrupted railway operations on Wednesday, December 27, with 30 trains cancelled, as per sources and 25 trains are running late.
The cancelled trains include NDLS-CNB Shatabdi, Shatabdi Express, Kanpur Central, Solapur Junction, Ranthambore Express, Northeast Express, Intercity Express, Howrah-Gaya Junction Express and more.
Coldwave in India
Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist with IMD, stated, "The condition will persist, with visibility of 50 meters or lower during the morning in all of north-west India, including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, western and eastern UP, and northern Rajasthan. The fog occurred due to night moisture, clear skies, and low wind speed."
