Delhi weather update: People resort to bonfire as cold conditions continue

Train services have been impacted due to fog with several Delhi-bound trains delayed.

New Delhi: Residents in the national capital resorted to bonfires as cold conditions continued on Sunday, January 7. While the maximum temperature settled at 14.6 degrees Celsius on January 6, higher from 13.8 degrees Celsius on January 5, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Due to prevailing cold conditions, Delhi also witnessed fog on Sunday morning. Experts suggest that the upcoming three days may appear tough due to jet stream.

Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the 'very poor' category according to Central Pollution Control Board data. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
