Female constable shot and injured in Patna by unknown assailant

Patna constable injured in shooting, as per reports, undergoing treatment at PMCH after unknown assailant's attack.

Patna: A women constable sustained injuries from a bullet shot by an unknown assailant on wednesday December 20, as per reports.Pammi Khatoon, the constable stationed in Patna, was filming a video with Police Sub-Inspector Shabana Azmi from Purnea when the assailant suddenly opened fire, injuring Khatoon in her left hand. 

Rushed to PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital), she is currently receiving treatment and is reported to be out of danger. Krishna Murari, DSP (law and order), confirmed the incident, stating, “An incident came to our knowledge. A woman Constable, Pammi Khatoon - posted in Patna - and Police sub-inspector Shabana Azmi, posted in Purnea - were shooting video and Pammi sustained a bullet injury in her left hand. She has been brought to PMCH, she is out of danger.”

Regarding the incident, the DSP mentioned, “We have received some input regarding the incident; she said that there is some personal matter too...We are investigating the matter. We are also investigating the statement of Shabana Azmi.”

According to prior reports, this occurrence followed a previous incident where a police inspector lost his life, and a homeguard was critically injured in an alleged attack by liquor smugglers in Begusarai district, Bihar. The unfortunate incident took place during the late hours of Tuesday and Wednesday, triggered by information received at Begusarai's Naokothi Police Station about liquor being transported in a car.

Upon attempting to stop the car, the smugglers reportedly accelerated, hitting the inspector and others. As a response, the police arrested the vehicle's owner involved in the incident. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects,report added.
