Five Arrested for Damaging Vande Bharat Express Ahead of PM Modi's Launch
Five arrested for throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express during its trial run. The train, launching Monday, suffered window damage but no injuries.
Five people have been arrested for allegedly throwing stones at the Vande Bharat Express train during its trial run in Chhattisgarh , officials said today. The train, which is supposed to run from Durg in Chhattisgarh to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, was set to be officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday.
The stones were thrown at the train while it was at Bagbahara railway station on its way back from Visakhapatnam on Friday morning. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the windows on three of the train’s coaches were damaged.
The people arrested are Shiv Kumar Baghel, Devendra Kumar, Jeetu Pandey, Sonwani, and Arjun Yadav. They are from Bagbahara and have been charged under the Railways Act, 1989.
In addition to the Durg to Visakhapatnam train, PM Modi will also launch other Vande Bharat trains on Monday, including the first Vande Metro from Bhuj to Ahmedabad and a 20-coach Vande Bharat train from Varanasi to Delhi. Other routes for new Vande Bharat trains include Tatanagar to Patna, Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune, Agra Cantt to Banaras, and Pune to Hubballi.
